The family SUV that redefined the segment for North America has been reborn. Zohari Cars is tracking the global debut of the all-new 2027 Volkswagen Atlas, unveiled on the eve of the New York International Auto Show. This second-generation model builds on the original’s hallmark utility but injects a massive dose of premium character, smarter technology, and a bolder design language. Proudly assembled in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the 2027 Atlas is a clear signal that Volkswagen is doubling down on the "larger-than-life" proportions and comfort that American families demand.
Under the sculpted new hood, the 2027 Atlas introduces the EA888 Evo5 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. Delivering a stout 282 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, this powerplant is not only the most powerful standard engine in Atlas history but is also anticipated to provide better fuel economy than the previous generation. Built on the upgraded MQB Evo architecture, the Atlas maintains its class-leading third-row space while growing slightly in length. An eight-speed automatic transmission remains standard, with the 4Motion all-wheel-drive system available across the lineup, ensuring the Atlas is as capable as it is refined.
Inside, the cabin is a total departure from the outgoing model, unified by a bold "architectural loop" design. Real wood décor is now standard across all models, with upper trims offering Varenna and Nappa leather in an all-new "Deep Wine" palette. Tech takes center stage with a standard 15-inch free-standing touchscreen on most trims and a new "Driver Experience Dial" that controls volume and driving modes. Most notably, the 2027 Atlas features a one-year trial of Premium Speech, VW’s generative AI-enabled voice assistant, designed to handle natural language tasks for a more intuitive family journey.
At Zohari Cars, we recognize the 2027 Atlas as a pivotal model for the brand’s North American presence. By adding more standard "family-friendly" features—like a power tailgate, rear sunshades, and dual wireless charging—VW is ensuring the Atlas remains the "right-sized" solution for modern life. Safety has also been bolstered with a new front center airbag and upgraded IQ.DRIVE capabilities that allow for driver-initiated lane changes. Launching this fall, the all-new Atlas is prepared to lead its segment through the end of the decade. Stay tuned for our exclusive "Chattanooga First Look" coming soon. The heart of the family SUV has a new beat.
