In the transition to a sustainable future, internal combustion still has a vital role to play when engineered with precision. Zohari Cars is highlighting a major technological leap from Peugeot with the debut of the all-new "Turbo 100" petrol engine. Designed to "extend driving pleasure," this third-generation powerplant introduces 70% new components to elevate sensations, performance, and reliability. Initially launching on the Peugeot 208 in March 2026 and following on the 2008 in May, the Turbo 100 is engineered to prove that efficiency and emotion can coexist in a compact package.
The standout feature of the Turbo 100 is its variable-geometry turbocharger. Typically reserved for high-performance or diesel applications, this technology optimizes engine response at low revs, delivering 205 Nm of torque from just 1,750 rpm. This ensures punchy acceleration for urban driving and confident overtaking maneuvers. The 1,199 cm³ three-cylinder unit produces 101 hp (74 kW), utilizing a high-pressure 350-bar direct injection system and operating on the Miller cycle. These enhancements significantly improve thermal efficiency while drastically reducing fuel consumption and emissions.
Peugeot has addressed long-term ownership costs by equipping the Turbo 100 with a durable timing chain, replacing the belt-in-oil systems of previous generations for enhanced robustness. During development, the engine underwent over 30,000 hours of bench testing and 3 million kilometers of prototype driving. This confidence allows Peugeot to offer a reduced maintenance schedule—now just one service every 2 years or 25,000 km. Furthermore, the engine is backed by the PEUGEOT CARE program, providing a warranty of up to 8 years or 160,000 km, offering ultimate peace of mind for the next generation of Peugeot drivers.
At Zohari Cars, we value engineering that prioritizes the user experience. By bringing high-end turbo technology to its most popular compact models, Peugeot is ensuring that "driving pleasure" remains accessible and reliable. Whether you’re navigating tight European streets or heading out on a weekend getaway, the Turbo 100 promises a smoother, more responsive journey. We look forward to putting the 2026 Peugeot 208 through its paces to see if this new engine truly lives up to its "Turbo 100" name. Stay tuned for our full hands-on review later this spring.
