Hydrogen Fuel Cell Toyota Tacoma H2-Overlander Concept Can Charge Your Buddy’s EV in the Great Outdoors and Filters Water, Too.
Las Vegas, NV — November 2025
At SEMA 2025, Toyota revealed the Tacoma H2-Overlander Concept, a hydrogen fuel-cell adventure truck that merges off-grid independence with zero-emission capability.
Developed by Toyota North America R&D and Flex Fuel Energy, the concept can power campsite tools, charge EVs, and even purify water from natural sources — all from its onboard fuel-cell system.
“This concept redefines self-reliance — clean energy, mobility, and comfort in the wild,” said Jay Sackett, Executive Engineer, Toyota Motor North America.
With lifted suspension, rugged all-terrain tires, solar panels, roof tent, and modular storage, the Tacoma H2-Overlander showcases Toyota’s vision for sustainable overlanding and the future of hydrogen adventure mobility.
⚡ Off-Grid Power, Zero-Emission Freedom
The concept’s hydrogen fuel-cell system not only powers the truck but can charge other EVs, run campsite electronics, and even purify water through an integrated filtration unit. With this setup, explorers can stay completely off-grid while staying fully powered.
“This concept proves that sustainable energy can fuel real adventure,” said Jay Sackett, Executive Engineer at Toyota Motor North America. “It’s about freedom — without emissions or limitations.”
